Muslims Achieving Excellence (MAX) is excited to host the 5th Annual Quran Recitation Competition 2025. The ultimate goal of this event is to improve familiarity with our holy book and encourage Muslim youth from across Canada to connect with the Quran.

There is a total of CAD $8,000 in cash prizes to be won!

  • Category 1: Primary School (up to and including Grade 2)
    • Male Winner: CAD $200
    • Female Winner: CAD $200
    • People’s Choice: CAD $150
  • Category 2: Elementary/Middle School (Grade 3-8, inclusive)
    • First Place: CAD $500
    • Second Place: CAD $300
    • People’s Choice: CAD $150
  • Category 3: High School/CEGEP (Grade 9-12, inclusive, and CEGEP)
    • First Place: CAD $1,500
    • Second Place: CAD $1000
    • People’s Choice: CAD $500
  • Category 4: College/University (under 33 years of age as of February 23rd, 2025)
    • First Place: CAD $1,750
    • Second Place: CAD $1,250
    • People’s Choice: CAD $500

Prescribed Surah’s:

Submission Guidelines: 

  • No previous winner of a MAX QRC Competition is eligible to win again.
  • The applicant must reside in Canada.
  • The applicant must recite the Surah that is assigned for the category they are eligible for.
  • The applicant must be under 33 years of age (as of February 23rd, 2025).
  • The application form must be filled completely and accurately. If any information is missing, or if the form is incorrectly completed, the submission may be disqualified.
  • The applicant must upload a video of themselves reciting the prescribed Surah for their category. Any voice recordings will be automatically disqualified.
  • The applicant must face the camera in the video and should record themselves in a well lit location.
  • The uploaded video must be clear and must not be altered by any video editing software.
  • The applicant must not use any voice-enhancing devices.
  • The applicant is not required to memorize the Surah (and can have the Quran in front of them to recite from).
  • The file upload limit is up to 700 MB.
  • Prize money will go directly towards the winners school or post-secondary tuition fees. If the student is in a public school, monies will go towards payment of Quran school or other private tuition or charity of choice. No money shall be provided directly to the winner/parent.
  • Applicants will be marked on accuracy, ease and appropriateness of delivery, tajweed (qalqalah, ghunnah, madd, mushaddad, ikhfa, etc. within the recitation), melodiousness and adherence to the competition guidelines.
  • This is a virtual competition: there will be no in-person component, and your submission through this form will be your competition piece.
