This exclusive event brings together Edmonton-based professionals and community leaders who will share key insights from their experience on leading with excellence, breaking barriers, and how we can strengthen community relationships to uplift others while achieving professional success. Salma Lakhani<\/strong> was installed as Alberta\u2019s 19th Lieutenant Governor in August 2020. Previously, Salma operated a business focused on early childhood education, which developed out of her innate affinity for teaching. She became one of the first mentors in NorQuest College\u2019s Youth in Transition program, providing invaluable guidance for students with English as a second language, and she was a founding member of the College\u2019s 1000Women: A Million Possibilities movement.<\/p>\n

Dr. Zaheer Lakhani <\/strong>is a distinguished cardiologist who has demonstrated a deep commitment to multiculturalism and international development. He was President of the Edmonton Multicultural Society and initially member and then for 3 years Chair of Edmonton Police Commission, and has coordinated a program sending Doctors and Nurses to various countries in East Africa where he himself spent a year doing voluntary work in Tanzania (1996-1997). Along with being awarded the \u201cTop 100 Doctors of the Century\u201d award by the Alberta Medical Association, the Government of Canada has also invested Dr. Lakhani into the Order of Canada for his services to the broader community.<\/p>\n

Mustafa Farooq<\/strong> is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM). A lawyer by profession, Mustafa completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta and Osgoode Hall (York University) and later earned his Master of Laws (LLM) at UC Berkeley in California. He is a published writer and commentator in various news media and publications on issues related to Canadian Muslims, human rights & civil liberties, and public policy issues including Islamophobia and national security.<\/p>\n

Dunia Nur<\/strong> is a Somali-Canadian who resides in Amiskwac\u00eew\u00e2skahikan, Treaty 6 Territory, Alberta. Dunia has a dual degree in social work and a Bachelor of Child and Youth Care and Executive Education Certificate in business and executive leadership. She is currently the President of the African Canadian Civic Engagement Council, a national public affairs organization whose mission is to preserve the best interest and address the needs of African Canadians most affected by the perpetuation of poverty, civic apathy, structural and systemic inequity. Dunia has (10+) building an inclusive society and is an avid community builder, researcher, and global thinker.<\/p>\n
