Mentorship Meet & Greet

MAX Texas held our Meet & Greet event for mentees and mentors who applied for the 2023-2024 program year. The evening was a prime opportunity to introduce matched mentees and mentors to one another, discuss goals and objectives, and network with other Houston-based Muslim professionals.

We were also honored to welcome Dr. Nyma Shah, CEO of Nspiration Consulting, who gave attendees an insightful presentation on the importance of emotional intelligence in the workplace. Following the presentation, an engaging panel discussion featured the following prominent Houston-based leaders:

• Ali Gowher – Consulting Solutions Partner, PwC Houston
• Bibi Khan – Founder & President of An-Nisa
• Raza Zaidi – Consulting Solutions Partner, PwC Houston
• Dr. Nyma Shah – CEO of Nspiration Consulting

The evening marked the launch of a program designed to support early career professionals in forming genuine connections with successful Muslims across a range of industries — including finance, engineering, technology, journalism, law, and medicine.

For mentors, it was an opportunity to give back to the community and share hard-earned experience with the next generation of Muslim professionals. For mentees, it was a chance to learn directly from someone who’d walked the path before them and build a support system for the road ahead.

The evening set the tone for a year of monthly mentor-mentee check-ins and quarterly MAX Cafe workshops still to come, and reflected what MAX Texas mentorship is all about: real relationships, built on shared values and a commitment to lifting each other up.
