Anwar Abdi is a 17 year old Somali student that attended York Memorial Collegiate Institute. Known for his resilience and community dedication, Anwar carries an ambitious attitude towards all his endeavours, which led him to claim multiple accolades in school. These awards include: Pre-AP Physics award, Pre-AP Chemistry award, excellence in AP Biology award, the highest average in the grade award, to name a few. His dedication and head-strong spirit also propelled Anwar to claim multiple community awards such as the Midayanta Rising Star award and Horatio Alger Canadian Scholar Award (awarded to only 160 Canadians nationwide). Anwar’s goal is to become an internal medicine doctor and mastermind an organization that serves to aid low income Muslims and Canadians, and elevate their standard of life. Anwar is determined to achieve his mission and is ready to tackle any obstacles in his way.
